Data Backup & Recovery Policy

How your data is backed up, how often, and what to do if you accidentally delete something.

???? Review annually
???? All employees
???? Managed by Computer Central

Good news: If your organization is managed by Computer Central, your data is automatically backed up. You don’t need to do anything — but you should understand how it works and what to do if something is lost.

???? What Gets Backed Up (and How Often)

Data Type Backup Frequency Retention
Microsoft 365 Email & OneDrive Continuous / Real-time 90 days + extended
Server & Workstation files Nightly (10 PM) 30 days local + 1 year cloud
Business application data Nightly 30 days
Local Desktop files (C:\Users) Only if synced to OneDrive 90 days via M365

⚠️ What Is NOT Automatically Backed Up

  • Files saved only to the Desktop — unless OneDrive Desktop sync is enabled
  • USB drives or external hard drives — these are not managed
  • Personal devices — laptops or phones not managed by Computer Central
  • Personal cloud storage — personal Dropbox, iCloud, or personal Google Drive
???? Best practice: Save all work to OneDrive, SharePoint, or your company’s shared drive — not just your local Desktop.

???? “I Accidentally Deleted Something!” — What To Do

Step 1: Check the Recycle Bin first — right-click the file and click Restore.

Step 2: If it was a OneDrive file, go to OneDrive.com → Recycle Bin → Restore.

Step 3: If it was an email, check your Deleted Items folder in Outlook. Then check “Recover Deleted Items” from the Folder menu.

Step 4: If none of the above work, submit a support ticket immediately — the sooner we know, the better our chances of recovery.
